On the Shoulders of Giants

Daphne Oram was a phenomenal mid-century British electronic composer, an early pioneer of electronic music, and the inventor of the Oramics Machine, a device that translated drawings into sound.

Several years after Oram's passing in 2003, The Oram Awards were created to celebrate and support UK-based women and gender minorities who are creating innovative music & sound projects. The Oram Awards recently wrote a lovely feature profiling Coloratura and exploring the innovative nature of both Coloratura and the Oramics Machine.

I am humbled and honored to be compared to the late Ms. Oram and I am thankful that the Oram Awards are continuing her legacy by spotlighting emerging sound artists.
