Fabric Ink on Paper
Globo was created via Coloratura, a system of paintbrushes that create music and art simultaneously. Each brush is assigned to a different color and musical note to simulate synesthesia.
Globo is a departure from my previous works; it is one of my first pieces created via the technique of ebru, a classic form of Turkish water marbling. In traditional Ebru art, pigment is applied via a dropper into a vat of water thicked by an organic compound such as carageen, a seaweed extract, that allows the pigment to stay in place for long periods of time. Once the design is complete, it can be transferred to fabric or alum-treated paper to permanently preserve it.
