2024 Rita Blitt Interdisciplinary Artist Fellowship

I’m excited to share that I’ve been awarded the Rita Blitt Interdisciplinary Artist Fellowship with the Mulvane Museum at Washburn University! Being awarded this fellowship is truly an honor, especially since it carries the name of Rita Blitt, whose work has deeply influenced my artistic journey. Several years ago, I met Rita at a screening of “Caught in Paint”, a short film about her artistic collaboration with the Parsons Dance group. I was blown away by how beautifully she intertwined the visual and performing arts. Seeing her work and hearing her story inspired me to overcome my own creative hurdles and let my music and art flow freely.

I’m honored to carry on Rita’s legacy and so very grateful to Dr. Sara Stepp at Washburn for this incredible opportunity.

My fellowship journey began in April with a performance at the Rita Blitt Gallery and a Train-the-Trainers workshop, where I taught art teachers to build and use their own mini Coloratura models in the classroom using easy-to-use circuit boards and simple art supplies.

Future activities for the Fall 2024 semester will include additional performances, guest lectures, workshops, and interdisciplinary collaborations with various departments.

More details to come!
