Blue Groove was created via Coloratura, a system of paintbrushes that create music and art simultaneously. Each brush is assigned to a different color and musical note to simulate synesthesia.

Blue Groove is a part of the Coloratura: Chromatic Canvas series, a performance piece that highlighted the techniques I worked on during my time as an artist in residence at Elsewhere Studios. The work was created by using a form of traditional water marbling called “Ebru”, which uses water mixed with carrageenan to create a surface that is more dense than water for the pigment to float on. Once the design is complete, it can be transferred to fabric or alum-treated paper to permanently preserve it.
